The Bavarian Contest Club (BCC) invites all active meteor scatter enthusiasts to join the MS contest hold during the Geminids shower 2010. The aim of the contest is to generate more activity on the random frequency and make MS random operation more popular. It will also provide interesting information about MS propagation at various times of the shower. And it will give the little pistols a chance to work the big guns, who are usually just out for square hunting.

Contest period: 11 December 2010, 20:00 UTC to 15 December 2010, 02:00 UTC.
Mode: CW and / or WSJT.
Participation: Category I: Mixed Single Operator,
Category II: Mixed Multi Operator.
During the contest it is allowed to change the QTH to another grid square. In this case the same station can be worked again. The new QTH must be indicated by the callsign (e.g. OH2AV, OH0/OH2AV). Геминиды - это один из самых эффектных ежегодных метеорных потоков. Метеоры из этого потока обычно бывают очень яркие, и видны они в обоих полушариях Земли.
Обычно источником метеорных потоков бывают хвосты комет. Таким был недавний поток Леониды, который представляет собой хвост кометы Темпеля-Таттла. Но источником Геминид является не комета, а объект, названный 3200 Phaethon. Он был открыт в 1983 г. с помощью американского инфракрасного космического телескопа Infrared Astronomical Satellite. 3200 Phaethon не является кометой, так как у него нет ни комы, ни хвоста. Он больше похож на астероид, но, вполне возможно, что когда-то он был кометой. Такая комета могла совершить много оборотов вокруг Солнца, в результате чего лед из ее ядра весь испарился, и хвоста у кометы не стало. Наверное, такую комету можно перевести в разряд астероидов.

In the 2010 the Leonids are expected to produce the background maximum, which, by IMO's data, should occur on 17 November at 21:15 UT. Maximum ZHR is expected by IMO to be around 20, which coincides with the Author's expectations.
Significant encounters with 55P trails are not found, so the background Leonid maximum will most probably the single one in 2010, though still quite prominent comparing to other "usual" Leonid returns. As shown on the Fig 3, the sole more or less notable deflection from the red line reflecting background activity expectations is located within several hours around 2-3 UT on 19 November (formal peak time - 2:12 UT on 19 November). It is caused mainly by particles of perturbed and thin 1234 trail. Its own computed ZHRmax is only 3-4, so far, considering falling background activity this trail is not expected to form a separate activity peak, but will only be able to keep the activity at ZHR~14 during several hours. Most of VHF guys know that Montenegro is one of the most rear and hardest
countries to be worked tropo on VHF. Marginal direction and mountain terrain
makes it difficult.
With goal to make as much possible QSOs all over the Europe, we will be
active in IARU VHF contest 04/05 September 2010, CW and SSB from Obosnik
hill.
We will use four antenna systems and high power in each. Will transmit in
four direction at the same time, and will have two operators on two
transceivers - each one taking care about two directions
